How Can I Help?

The U.S. Department of State is requesting public comments on proposed changes and clarifications to rules governing secondary school exchange programs.  These changes would apply only to foreign students visiting this country.  We believe they serve the best interests of students and host families alike.  We also believe the State Department should move quickly to initiate similar and even stronger protections for U.S. students and young people participating in 'ambassador' and other similar programs abroad.  Please use these links to read the proposed changes and submit your own comments by the end of the day on Wednesday, June 2, 2010.

About Tyler Hill PDF Print E-mail

Tyler Hill was born on June 6, 1991 – the anniversary of D-Day – in Edina, Minn. He lived with his mom Sheryl Hill, Dad Allen Hill, and younger brother Alec in Mound, MN.

Ty was a natural athlete and honor roll student at Mound Westonka High School. Tyler was a first year MVP for rugby, a tight end in football, a winger in hockey and an advanced scuba diver. He was a junior officer of the Mound Westonka High School DECA club.

Throughout his life, Tyler served as a role model and spokesperson, not only for his exemplary diabetes management, but against drugs, for peace and the earth’s conservation. He discovered and reported a bomb threat to school authorities and was recognized for his heroic actions.

Tyler's Motto was "GO BIG OR DON'T GO AT ALL", He loved music and posted OOH AAH by Grit as his MySpace song. Ty attended youth fellowship with his girlfriend Abbey Nekola at The Rock.

Ty will be remembered for his big smile and tender heart. He passed away on June 29, 2007 while on a People to People Student Ambassadors trip to Tokyo, Japan. His body rests at Resurrection Cemetary in the mausoleium, his spirit abides in heaven where we will meet again, and his big bear love stays in our hearts.
